21st Century College Readiness Center























Welcome to Metropolitan State University of Denver and

the 21st Century College Readiness Center!

You have been especially selected by your school leaders and teachers to participate in this NEW college readiness school-university partnership program. Your school leaders believe that you have the ability and talent to be a success in school, college and future careers!

During the 2014-15 academic year, you will take a special journey and pick up tools and resources that will help you become a stronger student and build your knowledge and skills needed for college and future careers. University Tutors, Instructors and Professors will guide and support your experiences. You also will make many new friends and participate in activities as part of several diverse and interactive programs.

The 21st Century College Readiness Center, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and Denver Public Schools were awarded a 5-year grant by the Colorado Department of Education to provide after-school and summer program for select students at FIVE Denver schools:

     • Cheltenham Elementary School
     • Fairview Elementary School
     • Abraham Lincoln High School
     • Martin Luther King Early College
     • West Campus Schools

Purpose of 21st Century College Readiness Center:

To strengthen and improve student educational motivation and academic achievement through the alignment of in-school and out-of-school initiatives.

Our primary aim is to get students ready for college success! Goals of the 21st Century College Readiness Center:

     1. Increase academic achievement in math, reading, and writing
     2. Increase school participation and engagement
     3. Increase postsecondary education readiness
     4. Increase parent engagement and support of student achievement and postsecondary education readiness
